Talking about Ethical Lapses?

Is it any surprise that the Alabama Democratic Party blogger, despite commenting on Tom DeLay, Scooter Libby and others, has not said a word about the Siegelman indictment?

And he claims that Beth Chapman is a hypocrite when talking about ethics in government?

Beth Chapman is a hypocrite. The Siegelman indictment doesn't change that a bit. Nor does it change the facts surrounding Libby, DeLay, etc.

I've said multiple times before that I don't support a culture of corruption, and that applies to both parties. If Siegelman is guilty, then he needs to serve his time. If he is innocent, then he deserves an apology.

Either way, I have faith in the judicial system. I believer we will see a fair resolution to the Siegelman affair, Libby, Rove, DeLay, First, and all the rest.

What's wrong with believing that?

My comments merely pointed out that while you have written multiple times about indictments and allegations against Republicans, you have not written (at least by the time I posted that) about Siegelman's situation. I would also note that you haven't, to my knowledge, written about other Democratic officials such as Phillip Jordan in Cherokee County.

You may not support a culture of corruption in either political party. However, it seems that you will speak openly about only that kind of culture coming to light in the opposition party.

Watchman, you take Joe J. to task about a phenomenon afflicting both left and right -- that is, to overlook your own guys' faults and direct your fire on the foibles of the other team. I'm sure that you are just as guilty of this -- everyone is. The Demos take their pot-shots at the GOP, ignoring their own crooks, while the Republicans return fire, ignoring their crooks.

One might say that it should all even out. Or, one might get disgusted with both sides and give up trying to figure out who's wrong and who's right.

Bottom line: each party has some good guys and some real sleaze bags.

Do you expect us not to be biased? It is the party blog after all. Do you think that AL GOP's website would be any fairer? I am a Democrat, I am easily more likely to take up for my brother than someone else, and my party before another one.
